JHS to SHS transition

ProspectusHer

Prospectus and essential school items for 50 vulnerable girls moving from Junior High School to Senior High School.

Background

ProspectusHer is Talk2Me Foundation’s initiative to support vulnerable and needy girls as they move from Junior High School (JHS) to Senior High School (SHS). That transition is a proud moment. It is also a costly one.

Admission is not the end of the story. Prospectus lists, uniforms, and basic school supplies can be the difference between a girl taking her place in SHS and a girl staying home. The project was designed to reduce those financial barriers and to promote equal access to educational opportunities - so that need, not ability, is not what decides who continues.

Purpose

ProspectusHer exists so that a girl’s next chapter in school is not decided by whether her family can afford the items on a prospectus list. Covering essential educational items at the JHS-to-SHS transition helps girls stay in school, keep the place they have earned, and begin senior high with dignity.

Project Support

Selected beneficiaries received prospectus items and other essential educational supplies. The support was practical and specific: the things a girl actually needs in her hands when she reports to SHS.

The project targeted 50 needy girls, with an estimated support of GHS 2,000 per beneficiary. That represents a total project value of GHS 100,000. Each girl reached is one more student whose education does not stall at the school gate.

Conclusion

ProspectusHer is a direct expression of the Foundation’s belief that every girl deserves a fair chance to continue her education. Removing the cost of starting SHS is one way Talk2Me Foundation keeps girls in the classroom and on the path they have already worked for.
