Cervical Cancer Awareness & HPV Vaccination

Talk2Me Foundation implemented a project called Participatory Adolescent Engagement on Cervical Cancer Awareness and HPV Vaccination Promotion among adolescent girls.

The project was designed to help adolescent girls understand cervical cancer and HPV infection, challenge myths and misconceptions around the HPV vaccine, and encourage early vaccination.

The project involved participatory educational sessions with learners in public basic schools. Discussions focused on cervical cancer, HPV infection, prevention, myths and misconceptions surrounding the HPV vaccine, and the importance of early vaccination.

The Foundation also engaged key stakeholders, including School-Based SHEP Coordinators, Girl Child Coordinators, School Management Committees (SMCs), Parent-Teacher Associations (PTAs), Queen Mothers, teachers, health personnel, and community representatives, to strengthen community support for HPV vaccination.

The programme was implemented across 78 public basic schools in the Ga West Municipality, using existing school and community structures to facilitate effective engagement and information dissemination.
